I’m sure all of you are aware that the Fort Washington (MD) Alumni Chapter played a significant role in International and Province level activities in 2009. Several of our members were intimately involved with not only planning and hosting the Grand Polemarch’s reception at the National Harbor in August, but were also active participants in presentations made to our illustrious Grand Polemarch at that much talked about event. We had chapter brothers spend numerous hours serving on various Conclave Committees as well as delegates to the National Convention. Our involvement coupled with that of the other Metro Chapters has brought recognition to this Conclave as being the best in the history of Kappa.
As I reflect on the outstanding year we’ve had, I can sincerely say I’m proud to be a member of the Fort Washington (MD) Alumni Chapter. In a short two year timeframe, not only have we grown significantly numerically, but we are well known as high achievers at the Province and International level.
We’ve consistently impacted our surrounding community in a positive manner which was the basis for chartering this chapter. We were very much involved in voter registration, mentoring programs, church activities, Thanksgiving food drive, Toys for Tots drive, awarding numerous scholarships to high school students, and a very well organized and inspirational breakfast for the recipients of these scholarships and their families.
Thank you for your unwavering support of our chapter administration and program efforts. Our chapter continues to grow by leaps and bounds striving for excellence in our achievement of the fraternity’s goals and objectives. We were poised and honored to host the 34th Annual Metro Founders’ Day that was held on January 24, 2009 at Martins Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD. I would also like to congratulate Barack Obama on his historical journey as the 44th President of the United States of America.
Thank you for nominating and electing me to be your 2nd Chapter Polemarch for the 2008 – 2009 fraternal year. It is indeed a pleasure for me to accept this illustrious position with grace, dignity and humility. I sincerely thank all the brothers of the Fort Washington (MD) Alumni Chapter for the support you’ve given me in the past and I know this unending level of support will continue not only for me but for the good of our dynamic chapter. It was through your dedication and hard work that we were able to successfully face and overcome the challenges that confronted us as a newly chartered chapter. All of you made it possible for me to reach the pinnacle of this chapter and the honorable office for which I’ve been elected.
We are Kappa’s for life, and therefore our love for the fraternity should grow with each passing year and remain with us until we reach that Golden Shore. Therefore, let us continue along a united path to achieve the many goals we’ve established for the chapter. Again, thank you for believing in me and electing me to serve as your Polemarch.
